Vilnius, Riga, and Tallinn (Postcard Edition)
Sending postcard summaries back home 📮
I’m doing some retroactive posting because I like accurate dates! So even though it is August at the time of publishing, I’ve set the date of these posts for something a bit more chronologically accurate for when they’ve been written.
I had the chance to visit the Baltic countries recently, and tried to condense some of those experiences in each of the capital cities into a short blurb that I then sent home via postcard. They probably do not make much sense, but thought it could be interesting anyways to share 😂. Overall though, I had a great time exploring these cities!
Vilnius
Cobblestone streets, brick-coloured roofs
Windy paths, windy gusts
Strolling by, sitting outside
Coffee
Coats, but sunny
Glass outlines in the horizon
Modern, crisp, surprising
Scooters
A tower on a hill overlooks
To the right and left—separate, yet bridged
A storied past, a bright future
Old and new
Riga
Art, culture, expression
Repurposing
Overcoming?
Moelleux à l’intérieur
Un peu grisé à l’extérieur
La langue parle plusieurs langues
A present past
An informed future
Neutrality is a luxury
Tallinn
Cruise port, so tourists
Old town, so souvenirs
Nice to walk around
Seafaring
Soviet remnants
Forging a new path
Back to 5m after 2m
Birch trees
Char kway teow?
