pictures at an exhibition
pictures at an exhibition
like an exhibition, panel by panel
walking in between, on each side
narrow and constricted sometimes
wide and spacious at others
still photos in black and white
lively impressions of colour and exuberance
modern contortions that puzzle
variety and style abound
but they pass by
visible, but not always felt
seen, but not always experienced
observing, examining, avoiding
the feature gallery awaits in front
sparse, nearly empty
was this really the first room?
a singular central spotlight
through, to the next
bam! a dizzying array of chromatics
here and there and everywhere
where was the entrance? where was the exit?
swirling and flickering
stretching all around, unencumbered
lost and consumed in it all
blindly walking forward
playing with perspective
a dot it is no longer
entering into the last section
the cacophony lessens
the faint hint of a common thread
begins to run through it all
surely, this was thought through?
purposeful and planned
some things become known
others remain unknown
yet it is as intended
trust in whom all things hold together
