window of a car
window of a car, a brief recount
A recount of the
thoughts on a drive this July
third, an afternoon.
I look to the sky
A vibrant, brilliant blue
Clouds, ever so soft
My mind sees vastness,
Expansiveness everywhere
I stare out in thought
“An everlasting
dominion which shall not pass
away,” as I read
in Daniel 7.
“The earth is the Lord’s and the
fullness thereof,” it
says in Psalm twenty-
four. I think about when Job
is silent when God
asks questions that he
cannot answer—or fathom.
Who am I to know?
And yet, he says this:
To draw near to Him, and He
will draw near to you.
What a promise! That
the one who created all
will draw near to you.
I think to my sleep,
how I need rest for each day—
My God never sleeps.
He gives me new breath
He draws near, He sustains me
Not from far away,
but near, oh so near.
To see tomorrow, and know
He is in control.
Give thanks to the Lord,
He is good. His steadfast love
endures forever.
